Can change roles be incorporated into other professions?

As I look at the roles of Change Transformation, I ask myself if change is a skill that can be incorporated into other professions or if change transformation management is a unique skill that needs to be more understood?

My thoughts depend on what is needed and how change management is perceived?

There is no clear answer if change can be incorporated and often times I have seen roles take activities of change and transformation management.

The wording of change management in eyes is an umbrella word, underneath that role has many duties so yes roles can take on some aspects but not all.

Why?

Depending on the size of the role and responsibilities there will always be a need for a skilled specialist who can fit and carry the change activities needed.

For example, Product Owners have a skill set that is needed to look at the maximum effectiveness of the product they are releasing and there are some elements to understand the high-level impacts but understanding the end-to-end strategy for effective delivery of change product owners may not have the capacity to do it

Another example is that project managers can look at change management but PM and CM also require a set of criteria that need to be met and this sometimes is unobtainable if it needs to meet a target benefit state.

So in short the answer is a maybe but again it's understanding what kind of skillsets in the changing world are needed and this only comes from an experienced transformation person to map out those necessities and if it can be slimmed to other roles.
